Video: Rock the animal kingdom in Taiko no Tatsujin: Atsumete Tomodachi Daisakusen!

In many ways, Taiko Drum Master is a cornerstone of the import scene, and Taiko no Tatsujin: Atsumete Tomodachi Daisakusen is the latest and greatest release! Our buddy Henry Skey joins us to show it off in this video.

The Taiko series is experiencing a bit of a resurgence in the West (and by that, we really just mean that it was in Yakuza 5), but it’s had a long history in Japan, and this game is the third on the Wii U alone! The new features here include a special mode that has you making little animals happy, and that’s adorable, but most of the time will still be spent with the huge catalog of songs.

And what a catalog it is! Modern Taiko games include game themes, anime themes, Vocaloid songs, J-pop and all manner of original and public domain fare to round out the selection. This game even has Animal Crossing and Pac-Man themes, unlockable by scanning in an amiibo from the franchise.

Topics include: Noteworthy tracks, keeping the beat, overcoming inferiority complexes, bunnies, gacha Don.
