Preview: Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns offers multiple fast travel options
When it comes to map sizes, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns gives us quite a bit of space to work with. Each of the three towns is made up of two areas. There’s a crossroads section to traverse. Your farm is even quite substantial. Getting from point A to point B takes quite a bit of time. Especially if you’re trying to make it to certain stores on time. Fortunately, there are means of quickly getting around beyond just using your feet or eventually hopping on a horse.
Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns has a fairly standard method to quickly ferry you from each spot. Each town has a station you can visit to get a quick ride somewhere else, via such methods as carriage, elephant or palaquin. This costs money, will get you where you want to go and is definitely an option. It means you can efficiently get to places you need to go, provided you head to that clearly marked station. These spots are liberally sprinkled around, making sure you always have an option.
The more unconventional option has to do with each Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns town’s job center. Even when other stores are closed, you can talk to the NPC to find a gig. Jobs range from ones that involve shipping a certain number of a specific sort of product, making a delivery for a postal employee or shop owner to a resident, and immediately completing a short task for a resident. It’s that final task that you can use to zip around.
Here’s how it works. When you visit the job center and see an immediate task, you’ll also know who your temporary boss will be. This means you’ll be instantly whisked to their hometown. Ford has two plots of land where he’ll often garden, meaning he’ll sometimes hire you to weed, water or harvest in Westown. Siluka will sometimes ask you to weed or chop wood in Lulukoko. So, say you’re currently in Westown and want to buy something from Ludus’ shop in Lulukoko. You take the part-time job chopping wood for Siluka, which immediately teleports you there. If, after that, you want to head to Westown to mine some ore, you could agree to water Ford’s crops and be teleported to his office. This ability is available the moment you have access to more than one town in spring of the first year, meaning it’s your earliest fast travel option.
Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is a big game. There are so many people to see, jobs to do and places to visit. Fortunately, the town works with you to provide multiple ways for you to easily travel around this vast space. Even though you have a large farm and three towns to explore, there are various ways to get where you need to go.
